M.D. Associate Professor

Dr. Richard Zhang is an experienced psychiatrist with nearly a decade of clinical experience. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of emotional and behavioral issues related to academic stress in children and adolescents, as well as psychological challenges stemming from work-related stress in adults. He has particular expertise in managing major depressive disorder (MDD), bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). With strong clinical skills and a patient-centered approach, Dr. Zhang provides personalized treatment plans to support patients in regaining their mental well-being.

Dr. Richard Zhang graduated from the Second Military Medical University and was awarded a joint Ph.D. in medicine from the Second Military Medical University and Yale University, under the mentorship of the renowned Professor Chunlei Jiang and Professor Ronald S. Duman. Dr. Zhang has worked for many years in the Department of Psychology at the Hongkou Mental Health Center in Shanghai, amassing a wealth of clinical experience. Additionally, he has served as an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the Second Military Medical University. He has led or participated in six National Natural Science Foundation projects and published over 30 research papers, which have been cited more than 320 times.
