Dr Tan has vast experience in diagnosing and treating ENT diseases in adults and kids. He practices in the following sub-specialties. Paediatric ENT: tonsillar and adenoid hypertrophy, obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Otology: eardrum perforation, otitis media, cholesteatoma, auditory implants. Rhinology: nasal polyps, sinusitis, septal deviation, nasopharyngeal cancer, dacryocystitis. Head & neck oncological surgery: thyroid, parotid, submandibular gland, throat cancer, and neck lumps. Facial plastics: head & neck skin tumours, prominent ears, nasal deformity. 

Working Experience:

Unlike most fellow practitioners in Shanghai, Professor Tan excels both internationally and domestically. Having been fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), Dr Tan completed his comprehensive 10-year surgical training entirely in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He is currently a consultant ENT surgeon, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Eng) and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCS Irl), which is the top surgical qualification in the commonwealth countries.

Upon return to Shanghai, Dr Tan is employed as a registered foreign expert. Research-wise, Professor Tan is hosting several national research projects, and has published dozens of papers with high impact factors in prestigious journals, such as ‘Cell’ and ‘Nature’. Teaching-wise, Professor Tan is mentoring undergraduates, postgraduates, and qualified doctors for Tongji University. As a result of extraordinary performance, he recently received few talent awards at national level and Shanghai level.
